Tonight’s pancake meet up was 5 years in the making. Es war lustig.
This is proof that I stick with people and plans, also when it takes 5 years to finally get it on.
Next on the list: a walk, finally.

Silent night
This is the last evening before Christmas – my first one away from home.
We already started Christmas with my family. We all were baking simultaneously while talking through Zoom this afternoon. It was great to see everyone and hear some family noise in the background while baking.
I then proceeded with prepping for tomorrow, when a small circle of friends will visit me to have our little Christmas dinner in exile. It was me, without the family chatter in the background. Just my vintage playlists.
Oddly enough, this year the whole family is a little early with everything. After my parents brought the Christmas tree in their living room, my father mentioned how he is not a fan of this at all, but this time, as he knows none of us would come to visit to enjoy the view, he feels even less like doing it. I can totally understand.
But we are the lucky ones, as we have each other, even if only virtually. I’m so glad I will have friends over. This way, my Christmas apart won’t be a Christmas alone.
There’s only one night left to sleep before Christmas. I can’t wait to hear if my nephews liked the presents I sent them. ❤
Staying home
I love my home in Berlin and new nice memories are piling up here every year. It will be strange to stay here for Christmas and not visit my family, but this would have happened after a while under other circumstances, so I try to make the best of it. Travelling 800 km and back would be a bio hazard.
So we are scheduling video calls, planning video brunches, virtual cooking and what not.
Things will be not like this.
I hope everyone will find a way to make peace with this year’s difficulties and get to enjoy the holidays.
The end of the year is a time for reflection. Let’s focus inwards and be grateful for all we have. I for sure am.
Some sunny day
Today was beautiful. The Sun decided to stay out, so after some learning, we took a nice walk with a friend in Plänterwald.
I can’t wait to have my family over in Berlin again and show them all the nice places I discovered this year. It’s unbelievable that I only could visit home once so far.
When I will be back again is a question these days – so is everything else.
But what matters is that we are all healthy and we all take the days as they come. Everything is temporary. Compared to our whole lives, this will become a temporary, short period.
Soon we will walk together again.

My dear friend, Teona turned 30 today. I got to pull her ears and celebrate with her a little bit.
She keeps me fascinated. I hope you’ll always find a way to stay on the light side of things. I wish I could learn from you how not to worry about things.
Happy 30th birthday, Teona! I’m glad we felt like running almost 5 years ago. 😉
